Dr. Karen DeSalvo, who served as National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and Assistant Secretary for Health (Acting) during the Obama administration has been appointed by Google to serve as the company’s first Chief Health Officer, CNBC first reports. In her new role as Chief Health Officer, DeSalvo will advise Google on providers, doctors, and nurses at the company including Alphabet’s life sciences arm Verily. She will report to former Geisinger Health CEO David Feinberg who was appointed by Google last year to leads its healthcare efforts.
