If India’s name resonates with any profession, it would be engineers, given that the country is producing as many as one million graduates a year. Yet, when it comes to the emerging technologies of AI, our engineers don’t seem to meet the demands of computer science. The 2019 annual employability survey by Aspiring Minds cited only 2.5% of Indian engineers actually possess the technical skills demanded by the AI industry.
